"Anatomical detail and accuracy are a must, it is the
untold story behind the eyes of
my subjects, that I strive to capture."
Brenda
Lee was born in Pennsylvania. She had a menagerie
of pets growing up, some domestic and some wild. While most girls
were playing with Barbie dolls, Brenda was exploring the woods for
wildlife and bringing home every injured or orphaned animal she
encountered.
At an early age she began drawing the animals that fascinated her,
(and) her attraction to wildlife grew along with her love for drawing
them. "I felt I could not take these animals from the
wild, but if I could capture them on paper or canvas I could have
them for life". What began as a little girl's unique
method of capturing wild animals became a life long addiction to
painting.
Brenda ultimately settled down in Lake Tahoe where the natural beauty
of the area enhanced her capability and talent. She is a frequent
visitor to the National Parks and likes to observe and photograph
wildlife in it's natural habitat. One spectacular adventure was
to Alaska and Glacier bay, with an African trip planned next winter.
When painting wildlife, she feels that the detail and accuracy of
her subjects anatomy are extremely important, however it is the
untold story, the very soul of the animal, that she strives to capture
on canvas. "I have chosen to work in oils, it gives
me the freedom and objectivity to express my love and respect for
both nature and wildlife."
Brenda's long term goal is to continue to use her gift for art as
a tool in the crusade to save our endangered species. She has been
working diligently with both experts and students to refine and
share her talents in ways that will support that goal. Her work
has been featured in galleries throughout California including the
Parkhurst Gallery in Seal Beach and Morro Bay and the Museum of
Natural History at Morro Bay.
Her paintings were prominently displayed at the Wyland Gallery in
Lake Tahoe and in the Eagle Valley Frames gallery as well as other
studios and art galleries throughout California.
